Spring Festival Themed Event “Dragon Rises with Wind from the Sea” Held by Tsinghua SEM EMBA Program in Qingdao

Along with the passing of 2023, the “Year of the Dragon” is around the corner. In the afternoon of January 28, 2024, the EMBA Program of Tsinghua’s School of Economics and Management (SEM) held the Spring Festival Themed Event “Dragon Rises with Wind from the Sea” at the Tsinghua (Qingdao) Academy of Arts and Science Innovation Research (TASA) in Qingdao. On the day of the event, Tsinghua SEM EMBA alumni of Shandong gathered at TASA to appreciate the unique charm of art and science and the unlimited potential of integrated development as a whole. In this interaction with TASA, elites from different fields gathered to break down boundary barriers, engage in the collision and inspiration of ideas, and jointly explore the integration of art and science, injecting more vitality and innovation into the progress of related industries in Qingdao.

President ZHANG Huajun delivered the opening speech. He pointed out that in the past year, Tsinghua alumni have continued to enhance their strength and resilience with self-discipline and social commitment. He hoped that all alumni would remember their original aspirations, adhere to the mission of their enterprises, continuously improve their forward-looking thinking and strategic judgment, closely link their personal careers with national development, and become entrepreneurs who are willing to take on responsibilities. By adhering to the correct code of conduct, fulfilling duties, and pioneering with the attitude of great virtue, Tsinghua alumni should aim to contribute more to social progress and achieve the common development goals of both individuals and society.

President SUN Jiutao warmly welcomed the guests and alumni who came from afar. He expressed that, in the past year, under the leadership of Tsinghua University and the EMBA Education Center, as well as the joint efforts of all the alumni, the Tsinghua SEM EMBA Alumni Association of Shandong has successfully completed the election of a new board of directors. It has also organized a series of theme activities, such as charity book donations, achieving significant accomplishments. President SUN Jiutao called on the alumni to inherit and carry forward the spirit of struggle and patriotism of Tsinghua University, to continuously innovate and make progress in their respective fields, to demonstrate the presence of Tsinghua people, to contribute more to social and economic development, and to make due contributions to the construction of the Qingdao West Coast New Area.

Deputy Director QU Yanyang conducted a promotion for the development of the West Coast New Area. He pointed out that as the only dispatched affiliated art academy of Tsinghua University’s Academy of Arts & Design, TASA relies on the advantages of disciplinary construction, fully combines the practical condition of the West Coast New Area’s industry and development, and is committed to creating a multifunctional platform that integrates technological innovation, enterprise incubation, gathering and cultivation of high-end talent, promotion of emerging industries, and entrepreneurship services, which will inject strong vitality and vigor into the West Coast New Area. In recent years, the West Coast New Area has always adhered to the development concept of upholding tradition while innovating and advancing with determination. It has thoroughly implemented the nation’s important development strategies, accelerated the aggregation of high-quality projects, promoted the deep integration of the innovation industrial chain, and made every effort to promote the high-quality development of the economic and social aspects of the new area. The local government will spare no effort to create the best “ecological lake”, build a win-win “tropical rainforest”, customize professional and precise “policy tools”, and create a comfortable and efficient “fertile soil”.

Secretary LIU Weidong introduced the situation and strategic planning of TASA to serve the industry. TASA aims to leverage the cooperative platform of Tsinghua University to promote the transformation of scientific research achievements and the development of discipline construction. In the future, TASA will continue to focus on innovation, serving industry development, and strive to become a model for new enterprise incubation. Secretary LIU Weidong welcomes more alumni and enterprises to join TASA, and TASA will provide good conditions and services to support the progress and development of various industrial chains in Qingdao.

Alumni of Tsinghua SEM EMBA shared the opportunities and challenges faced by their respective industries. Starting from the perspective of different industries, they shared the development trends, industry reforms, and innovation opportunities in the current economic environment. Their sharing not only broadened the thinking of the participants but also facilitated in-depth discussions and reflections on how to seize opportunities, cope with challenges, and achieve sustainable development in the industry.

After the exchange activities, the fourth meeting of the sixth council work report conference of the Tsinghua SEM EMBA Alumni Association of Shandong kicked off in full swing. The participating Tsinghua SEM EMBA alumni of Shandong eagerly reviewed the achievements of the past year and planned the future development blueprint.

TASA is committed to building a close cooperation network with relevant government authorities and enterprises. Currently, TASA has entered a new stage of development, establishing a series of research and development laboratories and co-constructed research and development platforms to provide technical support and services to enterprises, and injecting new impetus into the revitalization and innovative development of local industries in Shandong. This event not only built a bridge for communication and cooperation between various industries but also provided diverse ideas for TASA to effectively utilize alumni resources and expand its development direction in multiple fields, thus laying a sound foundation and providing opportunities for future cooperation.
